LOSC Lille Metropole's appeal against the validity of United's 1-0 Champions League victory has been rejected by UEFA.

The French club claimed that Ryan Giggs' goal in the last 16 first leg tie should not have stood. They believe that referee Eric Braamhaar made a technical error by not blowing his whistle before the free-kick had been taken and, therefore, were requesting that the match be replayed.# L4 M8 i' b+ S! k0 G  r" H' W

Their initial protest was vetoed by the Control and Disciplinary Body, but Les Dogues officials appealed against the ruling.

However, on Friday afternoon UEFA's Appeals Body backed the original decision. A statement on their website confirmed "that there was no proof of a technical error".
