The Red Devils could fall a massive nine points behind the Blues if they lose the Battle of Stamford Bridge, which is being shown live on Sky Sports 1 from 2pm.
But England defender Brown says last season's Premier League-UEFA Champions League double winners are refusing to even contemplate this situation.
Instead they are looking to end Chelsea's incredible 84-game unbeaten home record.
He said: "We are not contemplating them being nine points in front of us. If it happens then it would be grit-your-teeth time for us.

Brown sat on the substitutes' bench for the goalless draw against Villarreal in the Champions League in midweek.
But he is set to return to the team in place of either Gary Neville at right-back, or Jonny Evans in the middle - who both started on Wednesday.
Manager's choice
Brown added: "It is the manager's choice. He has a few options and it doesn't matter to me where I play.
"If I went to centre-half, I would just try to do the job until Nemanja (Vidic) was back. Jonny would do the same.
"I am sure he would not be overawed. He played very well against Villarreal and could have scored as well.
"He is a good young player and it was only right the gaffer threw him in to show what he can do."
