Edwin: Giggs goal was valid
United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says he thought Ryan Giggs' quickly-taken free kick was a perfectly good goal.

Van der Sar admitted that goalkeepers rarely suffer the embarrassment of conceding from such a situation. But, despite sympathising with his opposite number, the 36-year-old Dutchman said he was simply happy to be in pole position to qualify for the quarter finals.

"I thought it was a valid goal," van der Sar told Uefa.com. "As a goalkeeper myself I can sympathise, because it's the sort of thing that only happens once in your career."
