The French club claimed that Ryan Giggs' goal in the last 16 first leg tie should not have stood. Their initial protest was vetoed by the Control and Disciplinary Body, but Les Dogues officials appealed against the ruling.

However, on Friday afternoon UEFA's Appeals Body backed the original decision. A statement on their website confirmed "that there was no proof of a technical error".
